Great acceptance speech, Sean!
Sock it to the bigots whose Prop Hate votes the Mormon Church purchased ($190 million + $20 million) and manipulated through misinformantion.
Absent the mentions of a non-existent entity who is blamed for the ancient prejudices passed down into the scriptures, this was a good message of hope for embattled "gay and lesbian kids".
"Christians" ought to be ashamed of themselves. The quotes indicate that I'm not talking of the many pleasant, compassionate, tolerant believers who subscribe only to the good bits. Instead, I am referring to the many fundamentalist religious bigots who practice intolerance and holier-than-thou hateful moralistics. If there ever were a preacher called Jesus, he never visited North America, and he'd be horrified of what has come of his more compassionate preachings.

"Finally, for those—two last ‘finallys’—for those who saw the [Oscar protesters’] signs of hatred as our cars drove in tonight, I think that it is a good time for those who voted for the ban against gay marriage to sit and reflect and anticipate their great shame and the shame in their grandchildren’s eyes if they continue that way of support. We’ve got to have equal rights for everyone."... and an escapee from Mormonism
"But most of all, if Harvey had not been taken from us thirty years ago, I think he would want me to say to all of the gay and lesbian kids out there tonight who have been told that they are “less than” by their churches, or by the government, or by their families that they are beautiful, wonderful creatures of value, and that no matter what anyone tells you God does love you, and that very soon, I promise you, you will have equal rights, federally, across this great nation of ours. Thank you. Thank you. And thank you, God, for
giving us Harvey Milk."

"Mormon church officials, facing an ongoing investigation by the state Fair Political Practices Commission, Friday reported nearly $190,000 in previously unlisted assistance to the successful campaign for Prop. 8, which banned same-sex marriage in California.
The report, filed with the secretary of state's office, listed a variety of California travel expenses for high-ranking members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and included $20,575 for use of facilities and equipment at the church's Salt Lake City headquarters and a $96,849 charge for "compensated staff time" for church employees who worked on matters pertaining to Prop. 8."
....
"The proposed ban on same-sex marriage was called the second most-watched campaign in the nation last November, behind the presidential race. While Mormons gave millions of dollars to the "Yes on Prop. 8" campaign, church leaders insisted that the contributions came from individual church members, not the church itself, so the church was not required to file reports with California."[SFC]
